It was a magic moment my first drive. The instructor said he'd put a clutch in her every 6 weeks or so. The hill-starts didnt help,..what with the engine revving at about 2000,..then he'd say "let the clutch up until you hear a change in the note of the engine",..then release the handbrake" Imagine 3 mins of acting as an engine brake took more than a few thou offa the clutch-plate !! Dad had an FC Holden at the time, and the first time I drove the old girl, I soon realised the difference in power between a 132 grey motor and a red 179 :-). One redeeming feature about the grey motor was its inate smoothness, and difficulty to stall it,..all courtesy of the CR of 6.9:1 Jason

When told I didn't know how to drive the foreman commented "you will learn, just don't hit anything" and walked off so I had to figure it out for myself:-) Daryl
